Do you guarantee your jewelry?

Yes, we do guarantee our jewelry. Although it is rare, some pieces of jewelry can have faulty pins or threading due to mass production. In the event you feel your jewelry may be faulty, please return to the studio to allow our piercers to assist you further. We offer free jewelry installations on all jewelry that is purchased in store; this helps us ensure your jewelry is secure and installed properly. We have a piercer on staff at all times who would love the opportunity to assist you. Be advised, we perform all of our piercing services on a walk-in basis. Wait times vary daily. All jewelry is final sale; no returns or exchanges unless there is a manufacturing error such as faulty pins or threads.

Do you guarantee your piercings?

Yes, we do guarantee all the piercings we perform; however, there are specific limitations to this guarantee. If within the first three months of your new piercing you are to experience any excess swelling, improper piercing angles and placement or in the rare occasion you experience any issues caused by a defective piece of jewelry, our piercers will work diligently to address and correct any concerns. If in the first two weeks the jewelry in your fresh piercing is to fall out due to improper threading or faulty pins, our piercers will work with you to address and correct these concerns. However, it is the responsibility of the client to notify the studio or piercer directly if any concerns or issues arise. We will not be able to offer free replacement jewelry or a free re-pierce outside of these timeframes. We strongly encourage all clients during their visits to check in with us periodically throughout their healing process to ensure a successful heal. Remember, you are not going through the healing process alone. If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding your piercings do no hesitate to reach out to us directly by phone: (480) 621-8819, email: info@saltandlighttattoo.com, or by stopping by the shop during our regularly scheduled business hours: Monday through Saturday from 11am to 8pm. We have a piercer on staff at all times who will be able to assist you further.

How do I take care of my new piercing?

General Instructions: Do not play with or move the jewelry around in your fresh piercing. Your new piercing is going to swell. The jewelry used for the initial piercing is always a little bigger to allow room for swelling. For the next few days your piercing is going to be sore. Avoid sleeping on the pierced area for the next 6-8 weeks. During the healing process make sure to clean your piercing 2-3 times daily for 8-12 weeks. Absolutely no swimming during this period. Showering, of course, is ok and recommended. Do not let others come into contact with your fresh piercing with any bodily parts or fluids. Avoid wearing makeup around the pierced area for a few weeks. For some piercings, loose fitting clothing during healing is recommended for comfort. After the 6-8 week healing processes, we can change the jewelry to a more snug piece of jewelry for you. Although the piercing is healed, even taking the jewelry out for a minute can result in the loss of the piercing all together. It can take anywhere from 8 months to a year to be able to take jewelry out and leave it out for an hour without losing the piercing. After 8-12 weeks, be sure to clean your piercing at least once daily with saline or warm water to avoid risk of future issues. If you experience any issues or are unsure if something may or may not be normal, we urge you to come in immediately and let our piercers take a look at the piercing. We can better assist you properly by seeing in person what the issue may be. Feel free to call or come by anytime if you have any other questions or concerns.

Cleaning Topical Piercings: You will need NeilMed’s Fine Mist Saline solution or dead sea salt. Avoid touching your piercing directly with your hands; if you absolutely have to, make sure your hands are nice and clean by washing them with antibacterial soap and warm water. Take the saline and spray the solution directly on the piercing front and back for 2-3 seconds per side. If you would rather do a dead sea salt soak, mix 1/8th teaspoon of dead sea salt with 1 cup of warm water. Then soak and wipe the front and back of the piercing, not just the jewelry but the entire area.

Cleaning Oral Piercings: You will need Recovery Alcohol Free Mouthwash and a rinse cup. You are going to rinse with the mouthwash two to three times a day for six to eight weeks. Pour about a ¼ to ½ of a cap into a rinse cup and rinse for 20 to 30 seconds. If you feel like you need to rinse your mouth out any additional times feel free too. You do not, however, need to rinse excessively.

How do I take care of my new tattoo?

Tattoo Aftercare: Warning, not following these instructions can affect the healing and overall appearance of your tattoo. Do not pick, scratch or slap your fresh tattoo. Your new tattoo is going to swell. Your tattoo may be sore and show redness for the next few days. Avoid sleeping on the tattooed area for the next 2 weeks. During the healing process make sure to clean your tattoo 1-2 times daily and apply a thin even layer of Aftercare 2-3 times daily for at least 2 weeks. Some tattoos can take an extra week or two to heal occasionally. In this case continue aftercare as needed until scabbing is completely gone. Absolutely no swimming during this period. Showering, of course, is ok and recommended. Do not let humans or animals come into contact with your fresh tattoo with any bodily parts, hair or fluids. Avoid direct sunlight or any type of tanning, natural or artificial, for at least 2 weeks. For some tattoos, loose fitting clothing during healing are recommended. Your tattoo is going to peel and scab, this is normal. Do not pick at your scabs, let your body heal itself. After 2 weeks, be sure to use sunblock on your healed tattoo whenever exposed to sunlight for extended periods of time for the life of the tattoo. If you experience any issues or are unsure if something may or may not be normal, we urge you to come in immediately and let our artists take a look at the tattoo. We can better assist you properly by seeing in person what the issue may be. Feel free to call or come by anytime if you have any other questions or concerns.

Cleaning Your New Tattoo: Remove the bandage from your new tattoo at least 2 hours after application, but no more than 12 hours after. Do not re-bandage your tattoo unless necessary to protect from contact with possibly infectious material. Once your bandage is removed you will need anti-bacterial soap and water for cleaning your new tattoo. Work soap into a lather, apply and rinse the entire tattooed area. Repeat as necessary to remove excess plasma up to 4 times daily, however only once daily is necessary. Over washing can cause dryness. Clean tattooed area at least once daily for 2 weeks or until all scabbing is gone.

Aftercare Products: Apply a thin layer of your tattoo aftercare product to the tattooed area and gently rub into the skin until it’s mostly visibly gone, more aftercare is not better. Repeat 2-3 times daily for at least 2 weeks or until all scabbing and dryness is completely gone. If your tattoo looks shiny it may still be healing. Do not apply hydrogen peroxide, neosporin or sunblock to your tattoo during the healing process.

How do I make an appointment for a tattoo?
